No Data Corruption & Data Integrity
Find out what ‘No Data Corruption & Data Integrity’ implies for the data inside your website hosting account.
Data corruption is the damage of information caused by various software or hardware failures. Once a file gets damaged, it will no longer function as it should, so an application will not start or shall give errors, a text file shall be partially or completely unreadable, an archive file will be impossible to open and then unpack, etc. Silent data corruption is the process of info getting harmed without any identification by the system or an admin, which makes it a significant problem for hosting servers as fails are very likely to occur on larger hard drives where large volumes of info are stored. When a drive is a part of a RAID and the info on it is duplicated on other drives for redundancy, it is more than likely that the damaged file will be treated as a regular one and it will be duplicated on all the drives, making the damage permanent. A huge number of the file systems that operate on web servers these days often cannot identify corrupted files right away or they need time-consuming system checks during which the server is not functioning.
No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Cloud Hosting
We guarantee the integrity of the info uploaded in any cloud hosting
account that is created on our cloud platform due to the fact that we work with the advanced ZFS file system. The aforementioned is the only one which was designed to prevent silent data corruption through a unique checksum for each file. We will store your information on multiple SSD drives that work in a RAID, so exactly the same files will exist on several places concurrently. ZFS checks the digital fingerprint of all the files on all of the drives in real time and if the checksum of any file is different from what it needs to be, the file system replaces that file with an undamaged copy from another drive from the RAID. There's no other file system which uses checksums, so it's easy for data to get silently corrupted and the bad file to be replicated on all drives over time, but since this can never happen on a server running ZFS, you don't have to concern yourself with the integrity of your data.
No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you get one of our semi-dedicated server
plans, you won't have to be concerned about silent data corruption because we use ZFS - an advanced file system which monitors all the files in real time. Each time you upload a file to your account, ZFS will assign a unique digital fingerprint to it - the so-called checksum. The file will be synced between multiple SSD drives for redundancy, so if one drive fails, the other ones will take control. ZFS compares the checksum of all copies on the different drives and if it detects a damaged copy, it replaces it with a healthy one from another drive. This happens immediately, so there will be no threat for any part of your content at any moment. By comparison, all of the other file systems perform checks after a system failure, but since they don't use anything similar to the checksums which ZFS uses, they cannot detect silently corrupted files, so a bad copy could be replicated on the remaining disks as well and you may lose precious data. Because this isn't the case with ZFS, we can warrant the integrity of every single file you upload no matter what.
