IP Blocking
Find out about IP blocking, just what it indicates and just how and when it’s best to use it.
From time to time you may need to block specific third parties from accessing your websites. There are a lot of automatic bots that crawl the Internet, for instance, and produce fake visits and online traffic. There are spammers who leave links to shady sites as comments to website articles. This type of things can considerably undermine your hard work, as nobody likes to visit a website with countless fake comments, also the increased website traffic from both spammers and bots could create high load on the web server in which your site is hosted, that could result in the site not working properly. One of the best solutions in such cases is to block the IPs that create the fake traffic, so as to make sure that the visits to your website are real.

IP Blocking in Cloud Hosting
If you have a
cloud hosting account with our company and you want to block one or several IP addresses, you could use the IP Blocking tool, that's included in our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. Through a really simple interface, you can prevent any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it requires to perform this is to log inside to your CP, to go to the IP Blocking section, to pick a certain domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to type in the IP address. You simply won't have to do anything complex if you'd like to block a whole network - you will simply have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot shall block the entire range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs shall be listed in the very same section, so you shall be able to remove any of them from the blacklist with just a mouse click.

If you wish to block a whole range, a C-class network for example, you simply need to type in the first three octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. That will block all 254 addresses, so you'll not need to type in them by hand. As all the IPs you add in this section will be listed, you could effortlessly unblock any of them by clicking the Delete button associated with the given IP.
